Before beginning your workout, you should always use a foam roller if you have pain or stiffness in your muscles. This will help "loosen up" your muscles and eliminate tension in them. After use of the foam roller, be sure to stretch the muscles you are going to use for today's workouts. Stretching should usually take between 5 and 10 minutes.
